Propolis is a resinous substance collected by bees from buds and young leaves of trees, containing admixtures of wax, digestive secretions of bees, and pollen. Bee propolis is capable of inhibiting activity and destroying a wide range of microorganisms, including viruses. Propolis not only inhibits the growth of viruses, but is also able to prevent the development of a viral infection in the body. Propolis enhances phagocytosis – the process of removing foreign material from the body due to special phagocytic cells, exhibits anti-inflammatory and antitoxic properties – as a result of which it is used for various poisonings.

Propolis is rich in flavonoids, amino acids, vitamins, calcium, magnesium, zinc, selenium, iron and other trace elements (about 30 species in total), contains plant resins (up to 55%), essential oils (about 10%), wax (about 30%) , balms (6%), tannins (4-10%), pollen (5-10%).

The main property is bactericidal and bacteriostatic. Propolis is capable of suppressing activity and destroying a wide range of microorganisms, including tubercle bacillus, viruses, protozoa (Trichomonas), fungi, candidiasis, influenza and hepatitis viruses. Due to its high content of bioflavonoids, propolis is a powerful antioxidant.

Treatment with propolis and other beekeeping products is usually a long process, but does not cause side effects. Its use does not cause dysbiosis, but on the contrary has a positive effect on the intestinal microflora. Propolis practically does not cause allergies. If this happens, it is extremely rare. Statistics show that only 0.3% of people cannot use propolis preparations due to its intolerance. Therefore, bee glue is considered a harmless substance for people of any age.
